Every year Jesse's family takes a weekend in Vegas for his grandma's birthday. This year she turned 89!
People have been asking me what we do in Vegas if we don't party. Well, let me show you! There's plenty to do, even with a baby along for the fun.
So the night before we left, Jesse told me we were planning to leave at 5am. And I was like "why?? we don't have to check in until like 3." So I didn't listen. 4:45am rolls around, and I'm still in bed. That night Ever didn't want to sleep in her crib when I put her down, so I wasn't able to pack, shower, etc, because we have experienced what happens when we leave her on the bed by herself (she falls off). So I got up at 4:45, taking my sweet time to shower and pack, because I didn't know that the whole family was planning to leave together at 5am. I should have trusted Jesse when he told me we were leaving at 5, even though I didn't agree. I definitely need to work on being a more submissive wife, ha!
Anyways, we finally got on the road at 6, and little miss Ever decided she'd rather be awake for the first 3 hours of the drive than sleep.
About half an hour out of Vegas, we saw these strange colorful towers in the distance off the freeway, which we've never seen before, and we take I-15 quite often when driving to Utah, so we were like "whaaaa?"
A few google searches later, we were off the freeway and chasing down these colorful towers called Seven Magic Mountains.
It was really hot and dusty, and Ever's cheeks almost immediately turned red, so we didn't take long.
Finally, we made it to the Monte Carlo! And Ever was super excited, clearly.
We went to a buffet for Grandma's birthday lunch as a whole family. We had to reserve 55 seats!
Also, these are Ever's cousins, Aria and Sophia. Last year we were all pregnant together and this year we all had out baby girls.
Also, the only thing that was really hard on this trip was the fact that little miss Ever Joy did NOT want to be held. All she wanted was to be down on the floor and crawling. So these next few pictures are her fighting to get away from me when I'm trying to pose. The only way she'll somewhat let us hold her is if she's facing out, and my wrists feel like they're gonna break.
On our last night we grabbed a latte and went exploring at the neighboring hotels. Vegas is obviously known for it's casinos, but the hotels are gorgeous. I could spend date whole time just walking through each one.
I didn't take one single picture on out last day. But we went to Tacos El Gordo (famous in Tijuana and San Diego), went to Circus Circus and walked through the arcades and played a few slot machines (lost $5). Jesse is strangely good at the claw machine, and he won Ever a little unicorn. She was so excited. When he pulled it out the machine she screamed with excited as she reached out for it. So we (he) spent most of the rest of the time trying (and failing) to win her a big unicorn. He probably spent like 20 bucks trying to win it. Take my money, Vegas, take all of it.
Oh, I should also mention that it took us 7 hours to get home when it's supposed to take 4.
