We are the biggest procrastinators when it comes to pretty much everything. I think it's because we don't like to commit until last minute. Jesse took the weekend off for our anniversary and it snuck up way too fast and we hadn't planned anything. And while searching for hotels, everything was way too expensive. So, we figured it would be better to go mid-week, on our actual anniversary. We committed, paid for a hotel, and it worked out perfectly!
My favorite hotel to stay at in Palm Springs is the Avalon. Although we didn't have the best experience the last time we stayed there (see the post here).
It's still my favorite hotel, however, and this experience was much better.
Traveling with Evvie right now is really hard. Because she's going through her little tantrum phase and also her very independent phase. So exploring like we used to just isn't really an option. Which kind of sucks but we're learning to adapt quickly as things change and just accept it.
We tried to go out to dinner on Wednesday night, and Ever was already in the worst mood, so just waiting to order was a nightmare and we realized we weren't going to have a good time. So we left haha. I cried in the car on the way back to the hotel because it seemed like other kids her age were able to calmly sit in their high chair, but then our valet told us that he and his wife didn't go out to restaurants for the first 4 years of their twins lives because it just wasn't possible. And that made me feel better.
Sometimes it's difficult to deal with an over active toddler, and a little disheartening when you see kids the same age sitting calmly across the room, but that's what makes Ever Ever and I wouldn't change one thing about her.
Also pool time was not the funnest/most relaxing experience either because Ever thinks she can swim and tries to wiggle out of my arms. So I made sure to buy a puddle jumper on Amazon on the drive home 🙈
Overall, we had a good time. Even though it can get stressful, it's always nice to getaway just the 3 of us. I love my little family.
