We recently spent a long weekend in Utah for my older sister’s wedding. My sister, Carley, who’s been through so much and has overcome so much by the grace of God. Her story is one of absolute beautiful redemption. Without going into too much detail, she has two adorable boys from her previous (abusive) marriage, from which after a few years she finally mustered up the courage to leave. She then went on a journey of major healing and drew so close to Jesus through it all. Her boys are a constant reminder that God can bring beautiful things out of something ugly. She then reconnected with Ryan, a guy she met in college 7 years prior and dated briefly then broke his heart, and they fell in love. Just a beautiful picture of redemption in all sorts of ways. That he forgave her and looks past the past and the scars and that he took her boys in and loves them as her own. I’m so happy for her and cried like a baby as she walked down the aisle.
We spent most of the weekend doing wedding stuff, of course. But it was a small wedding with just family and it was so sweet.
On our last day in town we spent a few hours at Gunlock Reservoir. We kayaked to a rock in the middle of the lake and swam and my heart was so full.
