Jesse and I had a day off together for the first time in a long time, so an adventure was long overdue. We decided to go to San Diego for the day and revisit some of our favorite place.
First, Balboa Park. As a native Utahn, I didn't grow up coming to all these places. But Jesse did. So early in our relationship he tried to take me to all the cool spots in Southern California. Balboa Park was one of them, probably about 3.5 years ago now. "The place Jurassic Park was filmed," he said, to peak my interest.

I recently discovered Urban Oreganics and I am in love. It's so hard to find products with reliable ingredients. I love that everything Urban Oreganics makes has minimal and organic ingredients.
I ordered the deodorant, dry shampoo, orange essential oil roller, and cleansing grains.
And, you can use the code morgan20 to get 20% off your order through november! These would make the perfect christmas gifts.

I used to be a jewelry person. But somewhere down the line that changed, and I've come to appreciate simplicity more and more. So when I find a piece of jewelry that embodies that, I'm obsessed. That's Ekata Designs. Everything she makes is dainty and simple yet so boldly feminine. Pure beauty.

Contentment.
Something I struggle with more than anything else. In this age of social media, I'm constantly comparing my life to the lives of those on Instagram.
"I wish we had our own home."
"I wish I could buy Ever all those cute expensive clothes."

Coming into marriage, I had a lot of expectations. Like most of us. Expectations that I didn't know I had. Like how he was going to let me win every argument. And how he would think it's cute when I give him attitude. And how he would always go out of his way to make me feel pampered (which is true but not always.)

We woke up bright and early because of daylight savings, and found ourselves with so much time before church. So we decided to take Ever to see her beloved airplanes that she loves to watch take off from the airport near our house.

Baby Mori is a luxury essentials brand with the softest fabric I have ever felt in my life. Not even exaggerating. The fabric feels like butter and I find myself wishing they made adult sizes.
Shown here is the front opening sleepsuit in white and you can see the Mori Muslins as part of Ever's fort.

It was an ordinary Saturday. Jesse was off work, I was off work, and we had nothing on the agenda. So we sat around most of the day trying to figure out what to do when our good friends called asking if we were still available to take their family pictures the following day. Oops, Jesse was working. So we asked if they wanted to do it that day instead. Thankfully, they were feeling spontaneous and we loaded up the kiddos and drove to a rattlesnake and mountain lion infested park to take their pictures. You can see all their photos on the portfolio page here.

If it rained every day, I would be one happy girl. I've always wanted to live somewhere that it rains a lot, but alas I've chosen to live in two of the most deserty places in the country, Southern Utah and Southern California.
But, every now and again my rainy day dreams come true and it makes me want to drink hot chocolate and watch Netflix all day.
Instead, I taught my baby barre class, babysat my boss's daughter, then we went to IKEA and Trader Joes, came home, and I'm currently drinking hot chocolate while writing this post and watching Lord of the Rings with my hubby while the babe sleeps.

Halloween is not my favorite holiday, honestly. When I was a kid, my mom would make us super-elaborate costumes, but the older we got the less we cared, and we all became unfestive. But for the sake of Ever having the fullest childhood possible, I decided to dress up for her first Halloween.
We had been brainstorming for weeks about a family costume, but nothing seemed right. Then it came to me. A magician, his assistant, and the rabbit. It was perfect. So original. Never been done before. Or so I thought. One Pinterest search later and that theory was proven wrong. Regardless, that's what we were gonna be.

A (rare) crisp October night in Orange County, and we waited until the sun was just about to go to sleep venture out to a big empty field to take pictures. There were signs everywhere warning about rattlesnakes, so that was a nice touch. And Ever just wanted to eat all the nature and not cooperate. But, the realness is always what makes the photo all the better. Because it's not always about the perfect picture, it's about the memories. And also just getting out of the house for the first time all day.

You're never too young to start playing dress up. Or too young to play with dolls.
What is it about dolls that draw little girls to them, no matter how old they are? As soon as I opened the box full of Ever's new Shimmer & Shine toys from Kohls, she got so excited and kept playing with the dolls still inside their packaging. It was the cutest thing. And then when I pulled out the music playing microphone, that was a whole different level of excitement.
You can find her Dress-Up Trunk here, the microphone here, and the dolls here + here.

A random sunday afternoon, and we decided to head to LA to our favorite museum: The Getty. We got there at 5 (they close at 5:30), just long enough to wander around outside and take some pictures. Such is our life. Late everywhere, but we always manage to get a million pictures somehow.

This past week while we were sick we took multiple baths every day. Because for some reason when you're sick, that's all you want to do. And it felt so good. When Ever was asleep I would sneak in a solo bath too with hot hot water just how I like it. Once we tried putting lavender essential oil in our bath before bedtime to help relax us. And when I took my solo bath I put some eucalyptus oil to help open up my sinuses.

We've been sick all week and have hardly left the house. But the other night we had plans to go to T-Mobile so I could get the iPhone 7. Which we soon were informed that they're all sold out until the end of October. Anyways, on our way we decided to first make a stop at the beach so Jesse could fly his drone (eye roll). But, the waves were amazingly huge, and the sunset was the prettiest I've seen in a while, and we took probably some of my favorite pictures to date. We weren't all dressed up, we didn't have a specific product we had to take pictures of, and it wasn't our goal to even take pictures, and I think that's why I love them so much.
Sometimes I really hate California and wish Jesse would want to move to Utah. But, times like this remind me that this is home for now, and I love it.

Another trip to Utah, of course, because Ever needs to see her beloved and much missed grandparents. We usually drive, but this time we decided to fly. We thought it would be easier and take less time, but we actually realized it took more time and effort. Figures. Guess we'll be driving from now on. The only plus is that we weren't soooo exhausted like we normally are when we drive.

I was trying to think of a punny title for this post with "distressed" (because of my distressed tee), and it got me thinking. Motherhood is hard. I'm stressed out the majority of the time. I stress about driving places because Ever fights me like crazy getting in the car seat. I stress driving because anything can happen at a moments notice. I stress when Ever needs a diaper change because, again, she fights me like crazy. I stress when I need to make dinner because she has to be into everything always. I stress when we're in public and she's crying or whining. I stress when I'm trying to eat at a restaurant because this kid can't sit still.

Plaid + deep cool tones + a fun shoe = drool out of my mouth. Casual, but not your average casual.
Fall is approaching, although some days feel more summery than others, and I'm getting more and more excited to pack up the tank tops and pull out the sweaters. This is a good transitional outfit. A tee for the warmer part of the day, and a flannel for when it cools off later. Also, no boots yet. It's definitely not cold enough yet.
