Our 2 year wedding anniversary was quickly approaching, and, like with every other special event, we didn't even notice, let alone make plans. So a couple days before the actual day, we very very last minute and spontaneously decided to spend the night in Palm Springs. We found a hotel, booked it, packed up for the night and hit the road.
We invited Jesse's mom along so she could babysit Ever while we went on a date that night. Which didn't end up happening, but I'll get to that later.
We arrived in Palm Springs and it was a comfortable 110 degrees. Yikes. So first things first, we had to get in the pool.
Ever loves the water, but she thinks she can crawl in it so it scares me a little. But, nonetheless, she let me hold her in the water and watched her cousin swim around. It should also be noted that none of us returned with a sunburn! Wooh! I didn't even put sunscreen on, so I'm pretty proud.
When we couldn't handle the heat anymore, we went back to the room so Ever could take a quick nap.
Then, we got dressed and went exploring around the hotel, then around town.
After exploring, our plan was to go back to the hotel to put Ever to sleep, then Jesse and I would go on a date and swim in the 24 hour adult only pool. But, that didn't happen. Here's the story: Earlier in the day we met 2 people, who were overly excited and weirdly obsessed with Ever. We thought nothing of it, because people love babies, of course. Then, when we got back to the hotel, Jesse went to the front desk and ran into them again, where they made some uncalled for sexual innuendos toward Jesse and again commented on how cute our baby is. Apparently they were friends with some of the hotel staff. Not long after, back in the room as we were trying to get Ever to sleep, we hear them banging on the door, yelling, trying to open it, and inserting a key card. Jesse told us to get in the bathroom, and he called the front desk, pocket knife in hand, ready to defend his family (haha). After that, I was pretty freaked out and didn't want to leave Ever, and figured we would run into them again since we were planning dinner and swimming in the hotel, so we decided to stay in. We ordered a pizza, Jesse worked on some stuff for work, and we called it a night.
In retrospect, maybe it wasn't that big of a deal. But better safe than sorry!
Next morning we woke up at 5:30 to get home before work. It was a short trip, but filled with lots of excitement.
