It's always a struggle figuring out what we're doing for thanksgiving because Jesse works in retail and it's mandatory that he works every single black Friday. But, thank God, this year, he randomly had tuesday, wednesday, and thursday off, (then got his monday covered) so we quickly communicated with my family and planned to do thanksgiving early on wednesday so we could fly home on thursday in time for the black friday madness. The Lord really had His hand over this whole trip. It was completely bizarre that he even had those days off, and the way we were able to plan everything in a few days was amazing.
My parents live in St.George, Utah, where I call my hometown. I lived there from age 13-20ish. My grandparents live in Price, which is about 4 hours northeast of St.George, where I was born and lived there until I was 13. The last time I was there was thanksgiving 2 years ago, but Jesse had to be back at home because of work. So this year, we figured it all out so we could visit m grandparents in Price, and Jesse could experience the beautiful small town vibes for the first time.
Our plan was to rent a car to drive to St.George (6-hour drive), then carpool with my parents to Price the next day (4-hour drive), then have my aunt take us to the airport in Salt Lake (2-hour drive) to fly back home. BUT, one-way rental cars are crazyyyyyyy expensive. I'm talking $268 for one day, expensive. Because of the drop-off fee. So we were like "yeah, nevermind."
I was feeling all sorts of discouraged but decided to check plane tickets just in case there was a miraculous price so short notice. And sure enough, we found tickets for $39 to Las Vegas (2 hours from St.George). It was insane. God is so good.
So after a 3:30am wake up time, a 1 hour drive to LAX, a 1 hour flight to Vegas, a 2 hour drive to St.George, 1 sleep in St.George, a 5 hour drive to Price, 2 sleeps in Price, a 2 hour drive to Salt Lake, a 1 hour flight to LAX, and a 1.5 hour drive home, my heart is full of so much thanks for the life I've been given.
Evvie was a trooper. She's a crazy little spitfire who hates to be still, but I'm proud of her for bearing with us in all the hours of traveling.
Now for the pictures!
Got to the airport at 6am.
Then, my dad picked us up and we drove 2 hours to St.George.
The next morning, we had breakfast with some our friends Ivan, Shannon, their daughter Willow, Ina, and Izak.
Then, Ever fell asleep in the car so we decided to go fly Jesse's drone in Tuacahn Canyon (where I went to high school), only to find he forgot his memory card in california, so we snapped a couple pictures and then went to Best Buy.
Then, we waited for my younger sister to get out of school so we could hit the road to Price. And while we waited Ever and I warmed up in a nice bubble bath in my parents' tub.
We made it to Price at around 8pm, when it was a nice 29 degrees.
The next morning was Wednesday, or our thanksgiving day! We roamed around my granparents' ranch taking pictures and prepped for the meal.
My grandma's house is a photographer and interior design lover's dream, so I always knew Jesse would fall in love with it at first sight. He didn't want to leave.
The next morning my Aunt drove us to the Salt Lake airport. Jesse had never been to SLC either so they took us downtown and we got to jump out of the car for a minute to take some pictures while Ever snoozed.
